GCB Good Christian B’s? Is it Belles or Bitches

The women of GCB

GCB’s highly anticipated first episode was a hit. I thought it was great. I could not imagine where it was going after that little car accident in the beginning. However I was pleasantly surprised that it was rather good. I love Annie Potts, and the rich extravagant Texas woman she plays was brilliant. I wish she were my mother. I would mix a drink for her at seven in the morning. Leslie Bibb plays her daughter Amanda who comes back into town after her husband dies in a tragic car accident. I hope you find the humor when I say tragic. Her former high school rivals are huge gossip queens and seem to always be on three way calling talking about what’s going down. Her main rival Carlene who lives across the street is always bent over her window peering out to report back every step Amanda takes. I laughed throughout the show and I kept thinking this is like a way lighter, funnier version of Desperate Housewives. I saw later it is on the same night as the outgoing show, so I’m assuming it will be a replacement. I am looking forward to next week’s episode. I love the little snide remarks constantly made and the jokes being cracked. I heard someone thought this was showing Christian women in a bad light. Personally it makes me want to move into town. I even had my husband watching for a bit so maybe he might get hooked in as well. It is definitely not his thing but it can say a lot about the writers if he watches.
